Selva Grill

Last night we ate dinner at the award-winning Selva Grill. It is a Peruvian/Asian fusion restaurant on Main Street in Sarasota.

The food is absolutely delicious.  First the drink menu. They make everything from scratch.  They squeeze all of the juice (lime, etc.) there on the premises. They have a great menu of Mojitos alone besides all the other wonderful “tinis” and margaritas.  I had a margarita with a float making it into a Cadillac margarita (yum) and Mike had the plain Mojito.  He said it was the best he’s had in Sarasota so far.   You will find us writing about Mojitos everywhere in our blogs.   And, of course, the wine list. They have a good wine list and the prices were very fair considering they had some really good wines on the list. We did have a glass of chardonnay to go along with the paella but could have had a red as well.

The food menu had a full ceviche menu and a great small plate menu as well. We had the Triologia which was a sampler with white fish, tuna, and shrimp. Each one had its own marinade (again all fresh) and was distinctly delicious. We also had the empanadas that were so incredibly tasty.

The right are the Empanadas and on the left are the three ceviches.

For dinner, we shared the seafood paella (shared plates have a upcharge) but it was worth it. There was shrimp, scallops, white fish, and calamari in a wonderful tomato rice.

Paella at Selva 814 15
Seafood Paella is simply delicious with a nice glass of wine, perhaps red.

The Selva website says “they have a special emphasis on Peruvian dishes that recognizes the contribution of Asian Immigrants to Peru who fused their cuisine with the Peruvian traditional dishes.”  All we can say is they do it very well. The food is just terrific and the service it excellent as well.

We will definitely be returning for more of the Selva Grill!
