Mattison’s City Grill, Main Street, Sarasota, Florida

We had a very enjoyable lunch at Mattison’s City Grill.   It is a real Sarasota classic place. The laid back vibe is fun and relaxing.   It is a covered patio. There is no inside seating because there is no inside except for the kitchen.

There was a mellow guitar playing singer in the background and the fans kept it cool.   We were ready to stay for the afternoon especially when we saw the $5.00 cocktails and tapas that started at 2:00 every afternoon.   We have gone by there a number of times in the evening and it is always busy, but I think we will have to join in the fun.

They had lots of different things to choose from since there was a brunch,  Savor Sarasota ($15.00) lunch,  and regular menu. We chose the Savor Sarasota that included the drinks (soda or ice tea) and dessert because we figured you can’t go wrong with that price. We were right too.

I had the grilled chicken salad that had strawberries, cranberries, blue cheese, bacon, and leafy greens with a white balsamic vinaigrette.

Mike had a pesto grilled chicken with mozzarella sandwich and fries.  While the sandwich was good, the fries were a bit too salty. You really have to like pesto too.

We selected the two different desserts so we could taste both. One was a chocolate torte with whipped cream and berries

and the other was key lime pie.

Both were delicious and are home made. The key lime pie was amazing.   Loved the graham cracker crust and raspberry sauce that went with it.

We really liked it and will go back for some drinks and tapas or dinner or just to relax and enjoy again.
