As Mike mentioned in his blog about day 1, we simply got rained out. Our plan to ride that day just didn’t happen. It wasn’t just a little rain, it poured so we had to find things to do. Among those things, was trying to find breakfast.
I consulted my favorite review sites, and we went to the restaurant everyone suggested was the best around: Harriette’s Restaurant (Mile Marker 95.7). It said “Quaint yellow shack serving down-home breakfast & lunch favorites plus some health-minded options.”
Harriette’s is located in a yellow shack with pretty funny sayings and stuff on the walls.
It was pretty busy so either people read reviews like I did or they are local and don’t know any better. It was not good, not even close to the reviews it received. Trip Advisor gave it a rating of 4.5. Zomato and Yelp gave it a rating of 4.0. I would give it a 2 and that is saying something. The menu looked good.
The coffee stayed around too long. The wait staff barely came over to us and the eggs (and I only had scrambled) were overdone. I did get their biscuit and it is big. That is the good part. It is too big and not tasty. Mike had corned beef hash and it didn’t look good either. I didn’t even want to taste it. All in all, our experience wasn’t good. PS, it was good to see someone that is local who wrote the waitresses are grouchy and it is a greasy spoon. They were right.
