Blue Heaven is very “Key West.” If you dump all of Key West in one place, it would be Blue Heaven. Chickens (rather Roosters), bright colors, and cats appear to characterize the restaurant along with good food and drinks. It is a big courtyard with stages for music and art, a bar, and lots of tables under trees.
The only thing that wasn’t very good was the orange juice. It was watery and completely out of character with the food and coffee. Mike had delicious blueberry pancakes. They looked good and tasted better. They told us they get the berries from a farm they own. I really wonder about that but it sounds good.
Their specialty is eggs benedict of all types. I am not a benedict fan as I don’t eat poached eggs so I was able to get their special lobster benedict as an omelet and it was delicious! It might even be heavenly. Lots of big chunks of lobster. It came with a slice of banana bread that was amazing as well.
As I mentioned, the coffee was good. Good coffee makes a restaurant if you ask me. It is a cornerstone of how much care they take with food. I never had a bad breakfast at a place with good coffee.
Anyway, we loved Blue Heaven. It is on our list of places we want to come back to visit the next time we are in Key West.
