The Recumbent Gourmet Heads To St. Augustine

You heard it here first!  The Recumbent Gourmet is heading to St. Augustine.  Mike will pack up his trike and ride the approximately 350 miles from Lakewood Ranch to St.Augustine.  Nancy will meet him there, and they will spend a few days of fun and sun together in the United State’s oldest city.

What’s the plan?

Mike will basically follow the Adventure Cycling Association’s Florida Connector Route, traveling north-east across Florida from the nearby town of  Arcadia.  Expecting to travel about 50-60 miles a day, so it will take 6-8 days to get  to St. Augustine.  I’ll camp when I can, and stay in cheap motels when I can’t.  Timing is not yet final, but we’re thinking  when  the weather starts to cool off just a bit – perhaps the 1st of 2nd week of October.

What Else?

Nancy will bring her trike with her, so we will do some rides together in and around the St. Augustine area – perhaps Anastasia Island or Vilano Beach.  And, of course,  we will be staying in interesting hotels, eating in great restaurants and exploring the city, so it should be a  fun experience.  Anticipation is running on high as we begin the process of nailing down all the little details.
