Nine One Five (Duval St.) Key West, Florida

We arrived in Key West the third day! Yahoo, there are some good restaurants for us to enjoy. We were hungry because we didn’t stop for lunch, but we wanted to have a nice dinner. We decided to try Nine One Five on Duval Street.

After looking at all of the reviews, we thought it would be just the place for us.  We made early reservations and decided to go to Duval Street to see where it was and maybe get a drink earlier. When we walked up to the restaurant to look at the menu and we found the owner, Stuart Kemp, cleaning the tables outside.

We didn’t realize he was the owner until we went to La Te Da and bumped into a fairly inebriated individual that walked us back to the restaurant. We asked Stuart to recommend a good bar so we could start drinking sooner than later.

He recommended La Te Da, located a couple of blocks away from his restaurant. Well, we found our favorite bar there and proceeded to have a couple of mojitos to celebrate our ride. They were delicious. We ended up at La Te Da for drinks, breakfast, or any other excuse. I will write more about La Te Da in another post.

Nine One Five is a very good restaurant. While it has the Key West vibe, its food is seriously delicious. It is located in a beautiful old white house with a big porch and a bit of a front yard area that also has tables for seating. It was the best meal we had in Key West. We shared all of the plates but first we started with more drinks.

Mike had the mojito and swears it might be the best he has had. Personally, I think his are the best. I had a ‘tini that was just delicious. Knowing we rode about 35ish miles and we didn’t have anything to eat, it might be imagined that the drinks hit us fairly early on but they were good ones, and not enough for us to lose our sense of taste.

This really is a tapas type restaurant.  If you go, and we recommend you do, you need to know the plates are really meant to share. For the most part, they aren’t large portions so you can try a few. We love this kind of restaurant because we loved to try different foods.

We started out with the burrata with blood orange, coriander seeds, and lavender oil. It was a delicious combination. We loved it.

We also shared the chicken liver pate with prunes and crostini. We loved it too.

We had two half portions of pasta so we could both try it. We tried the wild salmon ravioli and the filet mignon ravioli.

They were both good but the wild salmon was amazing. I loved it.

We shared the key lime bar. It was a bit on the sweet side but very good.

We loved the restaurant and would go back anytime we are back in Key West. It is a real gem.
