Today I set out early to do a real test of the my ability on the trike. I rode the trike, loaded with about 35 pounds, over a course that included all the largest hills in the local area.
My original plan had called for approximately 100 miles with just over 7000 feet of climbing. Sadly, I had to abandon the original plan at about the 70 mile mark. I reached a point in the ride where I knew there would not be enough daylight left to get home. I wasn’t ready to ride in the dark, so I had to cut the ride short.
I ended up riding 83 miles, with just over 5700 feet of climbing. I am a little disappointed with myself. I really did think I could complete my plan, but I learned some valuable lessons.
