The Chihuly Museum in St. Petersburg is an amazing way to spend an hour or so. Located near the bay, the museum is simply beautiful.
The glass art is just gorgeous and, in some ways, the visual art cannot be believed because it is so glorious. Needless to say, I loved visiting the museum.
As you walk through the museum, the colors and art are all around you.
Dale Chihuly has permanent collections in museums around throughout world. Some of his art is in botanical gardens (including Garfield Park in Chicago, the Atlanta Botanical Garden, Desert Botanical Garden in Phoenix, and the New York Botanical Garden. The interplay between the glass and the plants gives you pause.
It is amazing to realize that he is blind in one eye from a car accident and can no longer blow the beautiful glass because of another accident but he is probably a charismatic figure who uses his artists to create the art he imagines.
I did feel the cost of the St. Petersburg museum was a bit high for the size of it but, nonetheless, it is worth taking time to visit and enjoy. I can’t wait to visit some of his art in other locations.
