We had one of the best meals at a place called Industrial Eats in Buellton, California. If you didn’t look for it, you wouldn’t find it – and you would be missing probably the best restaurant in the Santa Barbara Wine Region (outside of Santa Barbara proper). It is an amazing, quirky little place with a unique vibe – like communal tables. It is in an industrial area. You would never expect a great restaurant to be there, but that is a big part of its charm.
We found out about it from one of the wineries we visited and we weren’t disappointed. In fact, we found the food that came out of their kitchen to be completely amazing. It is open from 10:00 AM until 9:00 PM. We were there for dinner. We had a great charcuterie plate they made up from the various cheeses and meat they have in the showcases. The staff is very knowledgeable and can give great advice if you want to try something new. Almost everything is up on the board and it all changes rapidly, even while you are there.
They make great sandwiches, salads, and pizza, but everything they do is amazing. We saw a beautiful aged rib eye in the showcase and asked about it. They agreed to make it for us, and it was simply delicious. They even topped it off with foie gras. Their prices are very reasonable for what you get. They make their own breads and desserts as well.
The have a library of cookbooks that are also for sale
They also sell craft beers and wines by the glass or bottle at reasonable prices. You can also bring your own if you just happen to have a great bottle from the area.
It is very, very casual. You can come in as you are but you will be in for a real treat, no matter how fussy you are. If you even think about going to the Santa Barbara wine area, don’t miss one of its gems.
