Day 3 we were on our way. Since we stayed at a B&B, we either had to ride our bikes to a late lunch or dinner (not a good option) or call for takeout (a better option). We had a choice of Chinese food or pizza. Can anyone out there guess what we did?
Blue Heaven is very “Key West.” If you dump all of Key West in one place, it would be Blue Heaven. Chickens (rather Roosters), bright colors, and cats appear to characterize the restaurant along with good food and drinks. It is a big courtyard with stages for music and art, a bar, and lots of tables under trees.
On Friday night, we went to Louie’s Backyard with Cindy, who is a local friend. The restaurant was a complete surprise. It is a sophisticated, lovely restaurant. I guess we expected a bar-b-que joint. It was very nice inside but even nicer was the outside seating. We enjoyed the whole experience. It is a romantic restaurant and just hearing the water lapping around us just sets the mood.
What can I say about La Te Da. We were there each day (Day 3), (Day 4) we were in Key West. Any excuse to go there was reason enough. We went there for drinks, more drinks, and breakfast. We didn’t stay long enough to have dinner there but next time, we will do that.
We arrived in Key West the third day! Yahoo, there are some good restaurants for us to enjoy. We were hungry because we didn’t stop for lunch, but we wanted to have a nice dinner. We decided to try Nine One Five on Duval Street.
For dinner on Day One of our Key West Tour, we went in search of something different. How about a French restaurant in the keys? We found the Hideaway Café on Grassy Key. First of all, it is hidden away.
As Mike mentioned in his blog about day 1, we simply got rained out. Our plan to ride that day just didn’t happen. It wasn’t just a little rain, it poured so we had to find things to do. Among those things, was trying to find breakfast.
Wow, I still can’t believe we rode our bikes to Key West. Of course, we tried to find good or great restaurants along the way. I am relentless when it comes to finding good restaurants. I look for suggestions and reviews. I check multiple sites and, maybe, ask people who live there, where we should go. Sometimes it works out well, other times, not so much. Today is the last day of cycling on our Key West Tour. We’re a little sad that it will soon be over, but we are looking forward to a great day of riding . Are we are definitely looking forward to reaching The Hawks Cay Resort and getting in some quality relaxing time.
After yesterday’s adventure in the kayaks, I’m ready to get back on the trikes. Although we would love to stay here and play for a few more days, our time in Key West is done. It’s time to start riding back toward home.
