Ophelia’s on the Bay, Siesta Key, Florida

Ophelia’s is a very welcoming place.  From the moment you walk in, the hostesses are there and ready to help you to your table or the bar. If you are a little early, by all means, go to the bar. The food and drinks are excellent there too. I had the Bellini martini at least two times. It is so incredibly good. I am still thinking about it and can’t wait for the next one. Mike likes Mojitos and they make a good one. The bartender, Michael, is great!

Each time we have eaten there, the service was terrific, the food delicious, and the drinks (just wonderful). Ophelia’s has a good wine list, better than most in the area.  Even better, the view is so very nice. It is serene and inviting with views of mangroves across Little Sarasota Bay, fish jumping, and a stray dolphin once in a while. (We did see one while we were there).

While I have seen reviews that were less than good, our experience has been nothing short of excellent. We had oysters and the mussel appetizers and they are wonderful. One person in our party had the lobster bisque and I thought it was the best I have had. We had the salmon as well as the scallops and both dishes were well prepared. Then the desserts are so good as well. We had Crème Brulee and the Key Lime Pie and they were perfect.

I have to say, make sure to allow enough time to get there. Midnight Pass is a small 2 lane road on Siesta Key and it is a bit slow. Also, it is at the south end of the island and it does take some time. The first time we went there, I felt like the kid that wants to know “when we will get there”. They have valet service because parking is a bit of an issue.

It is probably harder to get a reservation during “season” but we haven’t been here long enough to know what that really means.

It is a wonderful restaurant to celebrate anything and anyone. Enjoy!
