The Recumbent Gourmet Wants You!

Do you like to ride a bike?  Do you eat?  Can you write?

If you answered ‘yes’ to these three questions (or maybe just 2 of them) then The Recumbent Gourmet is looking for you!  We are seeking a few guest authors who are willing to write a culinary cycling guide to their home town.

What We Want

Do you have some favorite routes that you ride often?  Do you stop along the way for coffee/breakfast/lunch at a special place?    Does your route take you past an interesting farmer’s market or a specialty market?  How about a great microbrew or winery on your way home?  Are you cycling buddies with the local butcher?  Know a great place to stop for organic produce?tacobike

That’s what we want to hear about.  Describe your route and why you like  it.  Tell us about the places you stop for food.  Describe the tastes and smells and the feelings you have for these places.   Introduce us to the owners and artists who bring the treats to you.    Make us feel the way you do when you visit.  Share the experiences of your best cycling and culinary moments with us.  You can write as much or as little as you would like – although most of our blog posts are about 500-1000 words.

And we want pictures!  Pictures make it real.  Big, bright, colorful pictures will bring your story to life.  The more, the better!

Still not sure what we want?  Here’s a good example.

It Will Be Good For You

What will you get as a reward for this heroic effort?  No money certainly.   But you will get to experience the wonder and the glory of having your work published and your by-line prominently displayed right here in The Recumbent Gourmet.   Your brilliant work will be exposed to a different audience than usual.  And you’ll get to put in a plug and a link to your own blog, as well as your favorite places.  If you want, we will even add your photo and a short biography about you to our site.  After we get a few of these articles published, we will add a section for Guest Authors to the site, and your work will be featured there.

Why We Want You

We are going to produce of series of articles for many areas in the US.     It will expose our readers to the opportunities that exists for combining cycling and culinary adventures wherever they happen to be.    So if you have a great culinary cycling experience anywhere in the world, we want you to tell us about it.

How To Get Started

If you think you would like to give it a try, please drop us a line at recumbentgourmet@verizon.net and let us know what you are thinking of, and we’ll get you set up!

Looking forward to working with you!
