My mother and grandmother’s made the best chicken soup. As a little girl, I watched them make chicken soup every week.
I use the same ingredients and make it in bulk so I can freeze it for soup or as broth for anything you want. You can cut down on the recipe and if you would like but I find that freezing it for later is just convenient.
It is simple to make because good ingredients make good soup. You don’t have to time it. It tells you when it is done. I put all the ingredients except the dill and parsley into the pot at the same time. I will let you know how much salt and pepper I use but I prefer to salt in the bowl to taste.

We had a very enjoyable lunch at Mattison’s City Grill. It is a real Sarasota classic place. The laid back vibe is fun and relaxing. It is a covered patio. There is no inside seating because there is no inside except for the kitchen.

Ophelia’s is a very welcoming place. From the moment you walk in, the hostesses are there and ready to help you to your table or the bar. If you are a little early, by all means, go to the bar. The food and drinks are excellent there too. I had the Bellini martini at least two times. It is so incredibly good. I am still thinking about it and can’t wait for the next one. Mike likes Mojitos and they make a good one. The bartender, Michael, is great!

We took backroads to Crystal River, Florida. It is the last place we would stay until we arrived in Sarasota. Crystal River became a destination when we planned our next rails-to-trails ride in Florida: the Withlacoochee Trail.

Ok, how do we get to Destin, either back through Mississippi or through Alabama? We decided to go through Alabama and stop for breakfast in downtown Birmingham.
