If you are a cyclist, the Withlachoochee Trail State Park is a place you really want to check out. But if you are a recumbent cyclist, the Withlachoochee is a trail you cannot afford to miss. Riding this trail on a recumbent is like spending a day in ‘opposite land’, for you will typically spot more recumbent bikes and trikes during a day on the Withlachoochee than you will spot upright bikes.

The River Mountains Loop Trail and Historic Railroad Tunnel Trail in Henderson, Nevada
The city of Henderson is just 16 miles from downtown Las Vegas. It not a place you naturally associate with cycling, but in fact, Henderson is home for two outstanding bike trails – The River Mountains Loop Trail and the associated Historic Railroad Tunnel Trail.
When living in southern California, we occasionally would to head to Vegas for a weekend. Often we would pack our trikes along with us, and then head over to these trails during the day. Mac even came with us once. We always had an amazing time and totally enjoyed the rides.
Sarasota Legacy & Venice Waterway Trails
Today was a day just begging for a bike ride. I woke early to find temperatures in the middle 50’s, with forecast highs in the middle 70’s. The sun is shining, the humidity is low, and a gentle breeze is blowing. Wow! That’s the coolest, nicest weather I can remember since moving to Florida last spring. Time to ride!
Loop Around Anna Maria Sound
I have not done a long ride in a while, so I decided I’d head out on Friday for a longer ride to Anna Maria Island and back. I planned a route that would take me into some new territory – a neighborhood called Cortez that I have never ridden through, and an area called Palma Sola where I’ve only ridden in a small corner.
Our First Mini-Tour
April 16, 2011
Once Mike got us hooked on the idea of touring on our trikes, we started looking for a short trip that would be relatively easy and beautiful at the same time. We decided to ride from Ventura, California to Ojai, California on the Ventura River Trail. We spent the night in Ojai and returned on Sunday to Ventura. Not so much riding – only about 40 miles – but very fun. It was the first time Nancy ever contemplated riding a bike anywhere that would force her to be dependent on herself (and not have a car to drive to a store or restaurant) and Mike.
Nancy’s Inaugural Ride
March 13, 2011
I have ridden my trike for 6 months or so, and just love it! So we have decided that Nancy should ride as well. After a quick trip to our friend Dana Lieberman’s bike shop in N. Hollywood (Bent up Cycles), we came home with Nancy’s beautiful blue ICE Adventure.
