Key West Restaurants

The Florida Keys are home to a lot of great restaurants.  Key West alone has more good restaurants than we could ever hope to review in one trip.  But here are some of the places we tried, the experiences we had and our impressions.  We hope you will enjoy!

Skippers Dockside Restaurant, Key Largo, Florida

Wow, I still can’t believe we rode our bikes to Key West. Of course, we tried to find good or great restaurants along the way. I am relentless when it comes to finding good restaurants. I look for suggestions and reviews. I check multiple sites and, maybe, ask people who live there, where we should go. Sometimes it works out well, other times, not so much ...

Harriette’s Restaurant, Key Largo, Florida

As Mike mentioned in his blog about day 1, we simply got rained out. Our plan to ride that day just didn’t happen. It wasn’t just a little rain, it poured so we had to find things to do. Among those things, was trying to find breakfast ...

The Hideaway, Grassy Key, Florida

For dinner on Day One of our Key West Tour, we went in search of something different.   How about a French restaurant in the keys? We found the Hideaway Café on Grassy Key.  First of all, it is hidden away ...

Nine One Five (Duval St.) Key West, Florida

La Te Da Hotel, Restaurant, and Bar, Key West, Florida

What can I say about La Te Da. We were there each day (Day 3), (Day 4)  we were in Key West. Any excuse to go there was reason enough. We went there for drinks, more drinks, and breakfast. We didn’t stay long enough to have dinner there but next time, we will do that ...

Louie’s Backyard, Key West, Florida

On Friday night, we went to Louie’s Backyard with Cindy, who is a local friend.  The restaurant was a complete surprise. It is a sophisticated, lovely restaurant. I guess we expected a bar-b-que joint.  It was very nice inside but even nicer was the outside seating. We enjoyed the whole experience. It is a romantic restaurant and just hearing the water lapping around us just sets the mood ...

Blue Heaven Restaurant, Key West, Florida

Blue Heaven is very “Key West.” If you dump all of Key West in one place, it would be Blue Heaven. Chickens (rather Roosters), bright colors, and cats appear to characterize the restaurant along with good food and drinks. It is a big courtyard with stages for music and art, a bar, and lots of tables under trees ...

Ordering food in at the B&B: China Garden, Big Pine Key, Florida

Day 3 we were on our way. Since we stayed at a B&B, we either had to ride our bikes to a late lunch or dinner (not a good option) or call for takeout (a better option). We had a choice of Chinese food or pizza. Can anyone out there guess what we did? ...

Santiago’s Bodega, Key West, Florida

On Saturday evening, we had drinks again at our favorite bar, La Te Da, We asked the bartender for recommendations for an early dinner. We didn’t have lunch because we were on our kayaking trip. so we could take advantage of the bar specials.  They recommended Santiago's Bodega ...

Better Than Sex Dessert Restaurant, Key West, Florida

For dessert on Saturday night, we decided to go to Better Than Sex for dessert. It was a relatively short walk (about three-quarters of a mile) from Santiago’s. Better Than Sex is a drink and dessert restaurant. It has a menu that portrays everything as sexy. It was a fun place ...

Key Plaza Creperie Restaurant, Key West, Florida

We left fairly early and didn’t wait for breakfast at Author’s Guest House. We thought we would find something along the causeway out of Key West. We kept looking for something that was not IHOP and, we found it in a little, out of the way strip mall. The restaurant is named the Key Plaza Creperie since there is a Creperie in Key West proper ...

Hawk’s Cay Resort and Restaurants, Duck Key, Florida

On the last day of our ride, we arrived at Hawk’s Cay. Thankfully, the car was still there. It is a beautiful property and we were so excited to stay in a luxurious place after all of the funky places during our trip ...
