Author’s Guest House was recommended to us by a close friend who lives in Key West. Her daughter worked there. We were told it is nice and very clean. The description was apt. It was very nice, clean, and best of all, they had a place we could keep the trikes that was off the street and under an awning.

Key Plaza Creperie Restaurant, Key West, Florida
We left fairly early and didn’t wait for breakfast at Author’s Guest House. We thought we would find something along the causeway out of Key West. We kept looking for something that was not IHOP and, we found it in a little, out of the way strip mall. The restaurant is named the Key Plaza Creperie since there is a Creperie in Key West proper.

Blue Heaven Restaurant, Key West, Florida
Blue Heaven is very “Key West.” If you dump all of Key West in one place, it would be Blue Heaven. Chickens (rather Roosters), bright colors, and cats appear to characterize the restaurant along with good food and drinks. It is a big courtyard with stages for music and art, a bar, and lots of tables under trees.
Louie’s Backyard, Key West, Florida
On Friday night, we went to Louie’s Backyard with Cindy, who is a local friend. The restaurant was a complete surprise. It is a sophisticated, lovely restaurant. I guess we expected a bar-b-que joint. It was very nice inside but even nicer was the outside seating. We enjoyed the whole experience. It is a romantic restaurant and just hearing the water lapping around us just sets the mood.
La Te Da Hotel, Restaurant, and Bar, Key West, Florida
What can I say about La Te Da. We were there each day (Day 3), (Day 4) we were in Key West. Any excuse to go there was reason enough. We went there for drinks, more drinks, and breakfast. We didn’t stay long enough to have dinner there but next time, we will do that.

Day 6 – Heading Back to Little Torch Key
After yesterday’s adventure in the kayaks, I’m ready to get back on the trikes. Although we would love to stay here and play for a few more days, our time in Key West is done. It’s time to start riding back toward home.
Day 5 – Kayaking in the Mangroves
Ahhhh. Another day in paradise. The sun rises into a clear bright blue sky as we peek out the window from the Authors Guesthouse. We’ve got another play day planned. No trike riding today. Today we will go kayaking in the mangrove jungles that surround Key West.
