Now here is an interesting idea!  The couple that owns the High Street Victorian Bed & Breakfast along the famed Katy Trail in Boonville Missouri, are offering to give their property away (estimated value $375,000) to the winner of an essay contest!

That’s right!  Just write your brilliantly worded missive (200 words or less) about ” Why do you want to own The High Street Victorian Bed and Breakfast?”.  If the contest organizers select your essay as the winning entry,  then you will receive the entire property free of any mortgage or other debt.

Submissions will be accepted August 15, 2015. Entry will be open until October 15, 2015. The winner of the contest will be chosen on or around October 30, 2015. Sponsors reserves the right to extend the contest an extra 30 days if close to the required number of entries are received.

The catch?  None really, but it does cost $150 to submit an entry.  If they do not receive enough entries (2500 @ $150 = $375,000), then they will return all the entry fees.

I think this is a pretty darn novel way to fund the sale of their business.  I am definitely impressed with their creativity.  And I am sorely tempted to pen up 200 great words and send them off.  Isn’t it worth $150 to keep a dream alive?
